Anniversary
Did someone say... anniversary? Yes, it's my wedding anniversary today, but we didn't get a chance to celebrate. Work is a necessity because it provides money for my family. Unfortunately, my husband had to work, so I only got to spend around three hours with him today.
Today, I personally celebrate years of working to stay married. It's not an easy task and we have to work at it constantly. I celebrate our small family we have created and maintained. We've had as many low points as high ones. We've battled sickness and constant stress, new jobs, loss, and heartbreaks. We are NOT perfect, but we work. It's not always fun.
Anniversaries are significant because it's an additional year that you decided to choose each other. Today's society doesn't always value marriage or so it seems. Most people actively choose to use divorce as a bandaid to a failed union instead of trying to fix their problems. Don't come at me for that comment. If there is abuse, then by all means leave that toxic spouse! I'll help you move.
