Knoxville Zoo
Today was just super!
Mom and I left around seven and got back around five. I was so excited that I ran off leaving my rain jacket behind. I guess all the planning in the world couldn't help me. By following google maps we arrived ten minutes late, but we only made two wrong turns. We don't have a lot of major highways around here, and just experiencing the traffic was amazing. Mom didn't want to drive, so I drove the entire trip. We took the "Dragon" into Tennessee. U.S 129 was fabulous and decked with budding trees. I can honestly say it was beautiful!
The motor cycles hadn't had the opportunity to totally take over the entire mountain. 300 curves in eleven miles was a complete rush. I know that its just a tourist trap, but I was infatuated with it. Normally, I only get to drive across the mountain once or twice a year. It has to be a huge luxury to live in a area that has a airport.
While driving, I discovered a small pull off. I was like, "picture time." My mom was a trooper all day. She only managed to sleep once, and that was on our way back. Sleeping is always a good way to pass up a mini road trip, but she was completely tired. Like all of our trips, mom was my, "slow down, brake and speed up" person. I only got slapped once!

Before arriving at our destination, we were doomed to get wet. There was rain clouds everywhere and I was dreading walking in that heat. Mom, always being the small one, decided to get my a umbrella. I was thankful she was thinking ahead. The zoo was under construction and it was still too cold to have most of the animals out. Every person we came across was super sweet and helpful. My mom has never really been to a zoo, so this was truly an experience for her. I was delighted to be there and witness her amazement.
Honestly, this was the first time I had ever encountered elephants. These large gentle giants seemed out-of-place in the hills of TN. I noticed that their tusks had been sawed off and capped. (like a capped tooth)
Mom and I were completely "walked out" by the end of our adventure. We ended up finding a random bench and resting. To some people this may not seem like much, but getting my mom out and about is actually a tuff job. I can already feel the burn lol. I know that waking up tomorrow will be partnered with some leg pain.
I wish we could have convinced my dad to come along, it would have been a great family outing. I love and cherish every moment I have with my mom. After loosing my grandpa a few months ago, I've been glued to my family because you never know when it might be your last day. I will be "begging" mom to accompany me to the aquarium here in the near future.
