Beautiful Creatures. (Reading)

Some of my students have encourage me to start reading Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl. Upon opening the book I have not watch the movie. I cannot believe how interesting the story is.  I can totally identify  with the main character, Ethan. Is is like the authors are describing my small town, but we don't have plantation houses. While reading, I could not put the book down, and ended up reading the first one hundred pages. I'm actually amused the the girls I teach would read a book written in a boy's perspective.
If my kids are reading then it must be good. With all the distractions of modern technology, kids have lost the faith in picking up a book and simply reading it.
