Tourism

I understand that tourism brings in a bunch of revenue for our small community. Sometimes, especially during this time of year, I become instantly annoyed that I cannot move or get to places within a reasonable time because of people visiting our area to see the foliage change. I understand that where they're from they may not get the fall leaf effect. What usually takes 15 minutes to commute from work up to where I pick my daughter up from my husband in the afternoons... took 45 minutes this afternoon.

From own liquor, stopping to take full length videos of the elk two people who blatantly stopped in the middle of the road and got out of their cars to take family fun photos. Where is the decency? Some of us live this year around and have jobs and children to get to. I'm just not a fan of the Florida tags I see everywhere. The speed limits are posted, but you can expect those tags to be going 10 and under or stopped everywhere to take photos. I even tried to throw away garbage this afternoon at our local dumpsters, but they were so over full that I brought my garbage back home.  I simply would not leave it stacked up beside the trash cans because I knew that the workers would have to pick it up.  The four other vehicles that was at the dump throwing out garbage was from tourist.

They do not pay our local taxes. Around three times a year we deal with this large influx of out-of-towners who absolutely drive me insane. They are rude, have zero respect for our wildlife, and overall they leave a mess. I get we need the extra money, but at some point there need to be some sort of reprimand for when they do break the laws. If you want tomtake a picture pull completely out of the road. If you cannot drive the post speed limit or anywhere near it, rent an Uber. If you were going to use our trash services, pay a fee.  And don't even get me started on all these Airbnb's. I think Airbnb's ruin our local chances for people to rent homes. Maybe our next county commissioner meeting they will approach some of these issues.
