Classic love story of a damsel in distress. Emma has a rough childhood with a drug addict mother and things that go with that: abuse, hunger, anxiety, and sexual exploitation. McAdams did a marvelous job of keeping her reader's attention. I didn't really like how slow plot progressed and justification didn't really occur until the last two chapters. The narration was decent and I really was engaged throughout the story. I would give this book a 3.9 out of a 5 due to the slowness of plot sequence. I was somewhat annoyed with this! I do not think I would give this author an additional chance.
