Girl Stolen Class Projects
Being a teacher
really has its
perks. I have discovered that many of my students really enjoy literature, as
long as, it’s interesting. My class chose to read Girl Stolen by April Henry,
and I was amazed at how they became engaged in the story. I asked my students
to make a character/ plot map for class. Most of them spent time after school
finishing up these projects. They ended up adding their plot maps inside of
their characters. Seeing my students excited about a project has made me very
avid about teaching.
I love the idea of learning our all standards through novels. I couldn't image coming into work everyday and using a text book. This is a neat way of seeing my student's creativity and understanding.
This year has been such a struggle for me to stay organized, focused, and on topic. I think when we have lots of plans, we have to slow things down. Sometimes less is in fact more. When my students enjoy my class as much as I do, I feel accomplished. Thank you all for following me and for all the support.
