Hope
Hope
Hope is the overwhelming
feeling of accomplishment when there is a futile chance of winning a battle. The
underdog is most often the uneducated participant that is left behind in the
dust, who no one thinks will succeed.
Hope is the little
girl who dreams of singing at recitals that might not happen. She doesn’t
concede to the fears, but she does keep this in mind. She gets up on a daily basis to practice until she is out of breath. She has this "hope" that one day all her effort will pay off, and who is to say she is wrong?
To be such a small
word it can have a huge impact on who we are as a people. Our past incidents
can only be fixed when we know what our future holds. After knowing this, one
must also think about the fact that our future is like shifting sand. We never
can truly predict what will be our outcome.
Hope is the young teacher who arrives at work an hour early to work, but never complains of being tired. She tries her best and put forth an effort to make sure she is competent in her given area. Often you will find her in her classroom long past the last bell. Hours are spent planning at home and working on lessons that may work. What is her hope? Her hope is to one day have her students come in and be excited about learning. Her hope is to be the most prepared teacher and to be the example. The angry eyes of parents never waiver as she sits across the table. She stands her ground and tells the parent that the their child will simply not do their work. Her hope is that one day she will be remembered that she taught her students something worth naming.
Hope is the cancer patient who never misses a round of chemo, who smiles when they feel like withering away, and who hangs in the fight both for themselves and for their family. Hope was always something that should be cherished, but only noticed when something detrimental is about to happen.
So what is my hope?
My hope is to one day be successful in my mind. I seem to never be able to fully feel accomplished, but yet I hope to grow old and know I DID SOMETHING. I don't want to waste my time here.
