FRIDAY!!!!!!

Spring Break Officially Begins!

Well, today was great!!!   I usually dread Fridays because the students are too excited to learn. They got out at 11:45, but the staff had to stay for a meeting, which was awesome. I'm lucky to work with a great team of teachers. Our staff decided to have a scavenger hunt across campus. I have never had FUN at a meeting, but today was absolutely amazing. I just wanted to say "Thank YOU!"  I had to chance to bond with my grade team and think collaboratively.
My Spring Break will not amount to much, but hopefully I will be able to save myself from the boredom. I was at the gas station and here comes the VENT!  The conversation started like this:

JAKE Store Attendant: Hello there! Are you a teacher?
ME: Yes and I love it!
Jake: yeah you know you are just a glorified babysitter!
ME: Well, at least I can say I love my job, can you?

I walked away very mad! I hope some other teachers out there read this and feel the way I do. I'm a middle school teacher who believes that I there to make a difference everyday and I'm NOT A BABYSITTER. I'M AN EDUCATOR! I have never been more insulted in my entire life. So my Spring Break will begin with me thinking about what my job really means to me.
  • I can go to work and have different lessons planed everyday. This gives me a options and I'm never stuck in the same RUT!
  • I get to dress up and be bubbly
  • I work with great people and they are sociable
  •  On my worst day, I know I have made some impact
  • I love my job
  • I get to plan LESSONS and read materials that could possibly spark some creativity

Okay I'm done!  NO more venting about JAKE. I have the need to feel important and to be a leader, so teaching gives me a purpose in life and I really love it!
Spring Break means that I will be reading and relaxing while catching up on laundry.   Trout season opens next weekend. I plan to be on the creek bank by 5:30 with my grandma and dad. Life of a small town girl always seems to result in these tomboyish ways. I'm just counting down the days!  I've already bought my bait now all I need are some hungry fish.
This will be my first fishing season without my grandpa, who always had a continual competition with me. "Who had the biggest fish"is something I'm going to miss. He was a man of few words, but he loved to fish and brag when he beat me. :)            Grandma would head off to church and we would hit the creek banks, but we would always be back before her. I'm really going to miss him. Wow, really emotion is hitting me.  bye.....................
