Thankful


     Yes, this is the obligatory post that everyone feels the need to share, so be prepared.

    Today, I'm thankful for those who keep me in their life. A simple text means the world to me and goes a LONG way. Due to work obligations we didn't go all out and cook a big meal. I hate that work always gets a slice of our holidays. Our dinner was small and we didn't include any outside family. I guess in a way I'm thankful for that too. Sometimes it's just nice to just have us. We're somewhat in a bubble. When I got married I stopped going out, hanging out, or even planning trips beyond my spouse. If we couldn't go as a couple, then I didn't go. This made me lose several friends, but I wanted to give my marriage my very best effort. 

    I'm thankful for our warm home, working water, and smiling faces. We've been having so many water issues this past few days that having a day without any issues is a blessing in itself. My toddler is still sick, but she enjoyed her meal. I'm even thankful for her cranky mood swings and toddler tantrums. After losing a child, I'm thankful for everyday we have with Taylor. Even on her worse day, I'm thankful I get that chance to see her grow.

    I'm thankful for a full stomach and leftovers. Money has been tight, so being able to have a full meal is a blessing that a lot of people take for granted. I was also thankful for my hens still laying eggs like champs even though we've hit winter weather. I'm thankful my billy, Junior has found a new home and I can peacefully spend time with my girls. I'm over the moon with my goats. 

    I would have given anything to have my husband here for this holiday, but I also understand that we need money to support ourselves. I thankful for a spouse who tries his best to provide for our little family. I'm thankful for my own job as well. I'm thankful for a job that allows me to have time off with my child for the holidays. At least one of us is here. 

    I'm thankful to have a home where I can put up our Christmas tree extremely early and enjoy it longer!

      Counting on something is just another way to set yourself up. Each year I do this and you would think that I learned from the previous year's mistake, but NO I didn't. So here we are again sitting down here at the pout house thinking about how we are going to rebound from my expectations. The Teacher's Lie by Brid Cummings

     A book review at its finest. I think every book is worthy of a review, so here goes nothing. I think the overall story is worth your time, however, I feel like the person who read it aloud on audible did the book dirty. Her accent and weird pausing in the middle of sentences really threw me off as a reader. I actually went back and purchased a paper copy. The author kept me guessing throughout each chapter, but the book was slow moving. I would put it down often to just take a break.      I would give this book a 3 out of a 5 due to the pacing and sequencing of events in the plot. Do not listen to it on  Audible, because it's terrible and dry.

Life with four Children

 so...          Let's begin. I want to start out by saying that life isn't easy with four kids and a full time job! I honestly don't know how people do this successfully. As a foster parent, I'm still learning about all the invisible baggage that my kids brought with them.      There are nights when I don't get sleep, because they are afraid someone is coming to get them. My 16 year old fears the dark, loud nosies, and being left behind. I suggest all foster parents invest in personal flashlights. It seems to help when the they have their own. We have night lights every where, but that doesn't always help.      Develop and create a laundry routine.  I will only wash two loads of laundry each day.  There are around 6-7 people at my house on any given day, and we are NOT washing clothes all the time.  My children each have their own baskets.
