Saturday's Earthquake
According to the local news we had a 4.1 earthquake here on the Tennessee boarder. I'm about an hour awake from the epicenter of the quake, so we not only felt it but heard the rumbling. She shaking and rumbling lasted about ten minutes. This was my first experience with a larger earthquake and I was terrified. I froze as I got out of bed still groggy from lack of sleep. I thought it was thunder until I felt the shaking begin.
I know we are near a fault line, so small tremors are constantly happening, but we don't really notice it. This one was different and scary. I'm unsure what we are supposed to do when they are happening. I couldn't pick Taylor up so I sat in the floor and held her. She was panicking and trembling all over. She is terrified of storms and the rumbling mimicked that.
Things have changed so much since I was a child. I cannot bring a single memory of experiencing these as a child. Why is everything happening now?
