Tires 1.

Image
When the weather begins to warm up, I begin to plant! I'm super excited to say that this year my tires will be a success. Well.... hopefully.  Above is a picture of onions that have decided to come up from seeds. Yes!!!!   I'm super proud, and I don't know if that is weird or not. lol      A local gardner gave me some advise about adding manure to my tires for an extra boost. My neighbor has horses and she was more than happy to let me have some. I didn't realize how important it was to socialize with them. It was a great conversational starter and maybe this might lead to an awesome friendship. Living in a small town makes things pretty much known, but letting new people in on your hobbies is always a positive.    I can always use some guidance when it comes to planting, and thanks to my ghetto green house I was able to start most of my garden early.                     This year has ...

The Battle Begins

The dreaded weeding has to begin...    It's the worst part about gardening, and honestly it's the hardest. I don't know how normal people keep their gardens looking so neat and tidy.  I spend 30 minutes a day pruning pulling and digging up weeds to keep my plants in pristine condition.  I know it will all be worth it when the fresh vegetables come in, but for now I will complain about it.     Pictures will be posted soon and hopefully you will get to see the progress that has been made.   Feel free to comment or to give advice. I am always open for suggestions or critiques that pertain to my posts.

Ghetto Greenhouse

I've decided that I need a greenhouse and I didn't want to invest too much money. Amazon provided the best CHEAP solution. For around $88.00 dollars you can buy yourself a premium plastic green house that is easily setup and somewhat ascetically appealing.  Yeah... that was a joke...      Well, I have to admit that is has helped with frost and keeping my plants supper warm during the day/ evening. For the amount I paid for it, it's not actually all that bad. I was surprised at how sturdy it has been during all this recent wind. I was dreading it getting blown over. I guess everyone has to try new things. I already have tomatoes, green beans, and pumpkin plants coming up.

It's THAT time of YEAR!!

Everyone has their weird hobbies, but sometimes mine takes up too much time. The air is getting warmer and I can smell the blooming flowers. Yes, its SPRING and I'm ready to start my garden again this year.  I have finally dipped my toes into a  green house. Last year I planted an mini garden in a variety of old tires. This year I plan to use a make shift green house to start my plants.        I also plan to grow my own "normal" garden. My awesome neighbor plowed up our lower field for a regular garden. I'm excited to say that this will be my summer hobby. After last year's mess, I have researched tips and tricks of gardening. I prepared now!        I will start posting pictures as soon as my plants start coming up!!!  I planted onion heads this morning in my tractor tires. Hopefully, this will be successful! Keep your fingers crossed for me!
